The Challenging Nature of Change

The Center- Uniting Mind, Body, and Spirit.”--New name of the Fond du Lac Center for Spirituality and Healing

Change is the constant, permanent experience of life. Life always changes. In

fact, it is the only part of our life experience that remains the same. Yet, in that

constant fluctuation, Life always is! Truly, Life is the only real constant. We just

don’t necessarily notice the constancy of Life because change is such a

disturbing experience for all of us who long for security.

This same reality is happening to the Fond du Lac Center for Spirituality and

Healing (FCSH), which I founded in September, 2000. It has changed its name,

yet the mission and vision (though worded differently) is the same. During the

past 24 years, people began to understand that The Center’s work was

“spirituality” and “healing.”

Both of the words, “spirituality” and “healing” refer to wholeness of body, mind,

and spirit. “Spirituality” is defined as “traveling on the path either to or for the

Spirit/God.” The words “to heal” mean “to make whole.” When we move along

the path toward healing, we move toward joining our body, mind and spirit. It

means experiencing peace and joy in our body, mind and soul. It means freeing

ourselves from suffering physically, emotionally, and mentally. It means “uniting

our body, mind, and spirit.” When we know this unity, we are “centered.”

When we are centered, we have a clear understanding of our relationship with the

Creator of the Universe, the Lord of Life, knowing that we are always in tune with

that Source. This brings an active, peaceful mind and a flow of energy within the

body and therefore allowing the body to remain a very healthy body that works at

fulfilling one’s purpose in the physical world.

The new name for FCSH, which is “The Center” with its dedication to “Uniting

Mind, Body, and Spirit,” is still the purpose of our work. That is why The Center’s

offers people opportunities, like yoga, meditation, T’ai chi, Healing Touch, kirtan,

reiki, spiritual counseling, the Native American Talking Circle, etc., to join and

unite (to yolk together) their bodies, minds and spirits. That is why The Center

has chosen yoga, which means “to join, to unite,” as its main offering.

Our current expression of The Center’s mission is “to empower our community to

live a balanced life through dynamic programming and transformative services.”

Its vision remains “to nurture individual health and well-being while cultivating

spirit-filled connections within our community” even though the board, the

teaching team, and the practitioners call ourselves “The Center.”

All the people involved with “The Center” are dedicated to empowering all of us

to live whole lives—lives committed to “uniting mind, body, and spirit.” The

entire team is committed to the Reality of Yoga!

I bow to divinity within you!!!
