Holiday Food Drive: Give Food, Get Yoga!
By Janene Lang

The Fond du Lac Center for Spirituality & Healing will be sponsoring a food drive to benefit the Lomira Area Food Pantry. The pantry was started Dec. 3, 2005 serving about 30 families per month during its first years. “Right now we serve 55 – 60 families per month, many who are elderly,” says Ralph Germain, food pantry Chairman. “We also serve many families with children.” It has been mostly in most recent years that the number of families served per month has grown to 55-60.
Anyone who brings in a donation will receive a certificate for a free yoga class. On Monday, Ralph will deliver a the food barrel to the Center to kick off the collection.
Specific items needed are: peanut butter, cereal, canned soup, canned meat (tuna, chicken), cake and baking mixes, mac and cheese, pancake mix and syrup, any kind of pasta and sauces (spaghetti, shells, elbow) as well as non-perishable holiday meal items.
The food pantry also sponsors a Christmas Giving Tree each year where an organization, family or individual signs up to sponsor gifts for a family in need. As a testament to the generosity of the community, all of the families who requested help this year have already been sponsored.
The Lomira Area Food Pantry is located at Trinity United Methodist, 300 Church Street in Lomira, WI.
