




Introduction to Holistic Health Methods for Family Wellness
This Holistic Health series introduces four significant and lesser-known wellness practices that could transform the way that we deal with health and wellness in our families. As mothers and fathers, and even grandparents, we have the responsibility to raise our children in a healthy and financially frugal ways.
This series introduces you to Ayurveda, Food as Medicine, homeopathy and doula work and the practice of placenta encapsulation. Each of these practices offers families practical and inexpensive ways to maintain total family wellness.

Ayurveda—Learning to live a healthy lifestyle

Ayurveda is the most ancient and most compressive system in healthcare that is known to humanity. Ayurveda is translated as “the science of life” or “the science of living a long life” and is considered “the science of self-healing.” Ayurveda has a long and rich history of guiding people on the journey of optimal health and balance. Ayurveda works with herbal medicines, diet, lifestyle, and an array of additional therapies to create balance within the body, mind and spirit. This session will introduce participants to the intriguing world of Ayurveda and allow participants to begin to understand themselves & their families in a way that will promote health, healing & balance into the lives of all the family members.

Family Nutrition – Food as Medicine

In a continuation of the wisdom and practice of Ayurveda, this session explains the powerful medicinal qualities of food. You will learn how herbs and spices as well as oils and tinctures can bring joy and balance to all the members of the family. Participants will have an opportunity to taste some of the foods that can heal certain illnesses in the body.

Homeopathy – Drugless Healing Remedies

Homeopathy is a drug-free and effective alternative method of treating illnesses and health conditions. It is a medical practice that began in Philadelphia in the 1900s before allopathic methods like antibiotics were used. Homeopathy, which had its origins in the herbal medicines of pre-modern times, is used now in most family medical practices in Europe. This session will introduce the theory of homeopathy and some of the more commonly used remedies.

The Practice of the Doula and Placenta Encapsulation

Much more than a medical event, childbirth is a glorious and miraculous transformative spiritual event. In this session you will learn how doulas provide emotional, physical and educational support before, during and after the birth. You will also learn the reported maternal benefits of placentophagy.
