What is Holistic Health??

The major emphasis of yoga is on a holistic approach. Diet, proper
elimination, correct breathing, self-control, relaxation, meditation
and exercise for various sorts are all recommended. The goal of health
care is prevention, not surgical care, for prevention is the best, the
easiest, and the most rewarding approach.
Getting rid of sickness is a painful experience as well as a waste of
time and energy. One can learn to look after the body so that is does
not become a source of pain and misery. But the time has come to
realize that a human being is more than just a body. Each person is a
breathing and thinking being too – a unique individual made up of
complex emotions, appetites, and desires.
It is important for people to become aware of the fact that staying
health is not merely a matter of good diet, taking vitamins, or even
doing proper physical exercise. More crucial than any of these factors
is keeping a healthy state of mind. And if one examines closely it will
be found that there is a center within that has the power to be one’s
greatest ally or one’s worst enemy; it is the source of health or
dis-ease.
How does one attain health??
Learn to accept what is making you unhappy, for then you can build
a positive attitude. With acceptance you will learn to understand the
sources of your pain and happiness.
Do not make rigid rules without examining your physical or mental
capacity. Unrealistic expectation creates guilt and inner defeat.
Set realistic goals so that your willpower is strengthened.
Develop a philosophy of life that is simple and direct, and that is truly thout through and belongs to you.
Let go of attachments to things which are short-lived and of passing value.
Make a plan for yourself that gradually strengthens you body,
breath, and mind. Keeping these ideas in mind, it should be possible
for a person to get to know themselves in a systematic way and to
unlock the secrets of health and well-being. With the bounty of nature
outside, ad the center of consciousness within, on can live in health
and harmony.
